Biography

Anastasia Elder, Ph.D. serves as the Associate Dean of Shackouls Honors College and the Director of Undergraduate Research and Creative Discovery at Mississippi State University. She is also a Faculty Associate in the Center for Teaching and Learning and a Professor of Educational Psychology. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Duke University and her doctorate in Education and Psychology from the University of Michigan. Her research has emphasized investigating and assessing students’ developing cognition, motivation, and self-regulation and in the design of educational environments and tools that foster understanding and critical thinking. She has taught courses related to student learning, motivation, development and educational research and statistics. She is excited to engage students in experiential learning opportunities and undergraduate research to enhance their education.
